Overview of Samaj Unnayan Prashikshan Kendra (SUPK) |
SUPK is a woman & child rights based voluntary local development organization in Dinajpur it is established in the year of 1979 for promoting rights of disadvantaged women & their children in the northern Part of Bangladesh i.e. poverty elimination in terms of Rights & Dignity , children participation , awareness , skills, illiteracy of poor family children ,stop child marriage and promoting birth registration, Increase awareness on prevention of of child trafficking , capacity enhancement of local CSOs and LGIs, linkage development of targeted people & CSOs with local Duty Bearers etc. SUPK is committed to for implementation of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child ( UNCRC), Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women ( CEDAW) along with Universal Declaration of Human Rights ( UDHR). |

Presently, SUPK has been implementing its program undertaking target groups Right Based and Community Development Approach.
In target group approach, SUPK firstly organizes the poor and hard core people into homogeneous group through rapport building, animation, motivation, discussion & communication. Secondly, it facilitates them in an empowerment through; activation of group Dynamism training, NFE education and finally, it facilitates them in initiation of economic program for regular income to alleviate poverty through active involvement & participation. In community development approach, SUPK stresses on Shisu Biddaloy, installation of tube-well and social forestation.
Development philosophy of SUPK:
SUPK believes that the people who bring about the changes in their own condition through individual & cooperative action as such, it is possible by releasing human dormant potentialities in to action -hereby the unemployed labor force will be transformed into productive labor force.
As such, the development -philosophy of SUPK is based on the conceptual framework that the paramount need of the people is not relief but release - the way to develop their potentialities for personal, social, economical, educational and civic growth & development.

Vulnerable, poor, land-less, marginal farmers, disadvantaged women especially women of lower income families, aged people and Adibasi, destitute, abandon, divorced, under privileged children, adolescent But priority is given, who have less than 50 decimals of land, earn less than Tk.600 per month, illiterate, and socially less conscious, unable to fulfill basic needs, destitute and vulnerable children, who are exploited and oppressed. |

SUPK the Organization governance consists into two tiers:

Governance & Management |
Steering in hand, the ‘Executive Director” leads the program in association with proper consultation of the executive committee. The executive committee meet themselves bi-monthly to review the progress. Consisting seven (07) members of executive committee are elected by general members for three years. General committee meets annually to review overall achievements, income-expenditure & to approve the next & previous year’s budget & planning i.e. called AGM (Annual General Meeting). Besides this, special general meeting is arranged as per need. The field officials- responsible for field monitoring, supervision, training & other attend monthly meeting held on each of 1st week of month. The field officials usually present their monthly progress reports including business & development plan for the next month. The Executive Director sits in the chair & takes part in reviewing session containing failure & success & lastly provides guide to overcome or strengthening of activities. |

Financial Management |
All the funds related to the project transferred to its own bank account, which is operated by the Executive Director, treasure and the Chairman of SUPK with their joint signature. The Manager finance & Admin, , & Accountant maintains all the accounts transaction and all the relevant documents regarding the project according to the accounting principle and the Finance Manual of the organization. |
Monitoring & Evaluation |
Monitoring: SUPK have independent monitoring cell. Monitoring & Evaluation officer will be responsible for the activity & she/he will be directly reportable to Executive Director. Monitoring will be done in two ways: Firstly, unit offices already have the practice of sending monthly report to head office (HO). The M & E officer will compile the reports & analyze data & then submit the compiled report with analysis & finding to management. Secondly, there will be a monthly report in case of social development activities. A group will be assigned for these activities which will be formed with representatives from both community & SUPK. The report will be prepared through participatory process & will be submitted to management for further action. Quarterly monitoring & observation report should be prepared by 15th of the following month & will be shared with board for decision. Minor observation will be dealt by Executive Director & senior management team Evaluation: An independent organization will be assigned for evaluation after completion of every project. The organization will be selected through competitive bidding by SUPK. The organization will submit an evaluation report to SUPK management. This will be shared with board for further action. Reporting: SUPK have internal reporting system in weekly and monthly. Monthly report is submitted to donor and government to meet their compliance. Besides this, annual report is prepared and published under the lead of internal reporters unit. Internal/External Audit: SUPK have internal audit unit having an internal auditor who is reportable to the chairman of SUPK directly. As per decision taken in AGM, external audit firm is selected to perform audit in each year |
